What is the uniqueness and value of this Looker Studio template?
SEO is expensive, so you must allocate resources to your highest-converting pages and keywords first.
SEO takes a long time, and you can work on boosting your keywords for years without knowing that they will not bring conversions.
Solution? Create pages with the minimum necessary content, do not invest in backlinks and expensive text, and launch search campaigns in Google Ads on all such pages.
Next, evaluate keywords according to this logic: the more conversions there are for a keyword in Google Ads and the closer the keyword is to the top 1 in organic search, the more ideal it is.
The problem is that you can’t import Search Console performance data to a Google Ads account to enrich Search terms with metrics from GSC. All Impressions and Clicks that you see in the Search terms report reflect your performance in Google paid search advertising and do not in any way characterize your performance in Google organic search.
That’s why we need Looker Studio, to merge data from Google Ads and Search Console in one place and prioritize keywords and landing pages based on they conversion rate and average position in organic search.
To simplify prioritizing I created two custom metrics in the template: Keyword Conversion Potential and Landing Page Conversion Potential. To calculate it I divide Conversions from Google Ads on the Average Position from Search Console.
So, your very first task: improve organic search rankings for keywords that are converting (proof of value) and that are closest to the top 1, but not yet there (low-hanging fruits).
The structure of the Google Ads + Google Search Console report template
Page 1. Blending data by search queries
The table with conditional formatting helps to identify interesting patterns in search queries very quickly. You also can use the filter by Query and Final URLs to filter results on the page.
A few scatter charts help to visualize the most valuable keywords. The more conversions there are for a keyword in Google Ads and the closer the keyword is to the top 1 in organic search, the more ideal it is. You should boost organic search rankings for such keywords at first.
Page 2. Blending data by landing pages
The same table as on the first page, but by landing pages.
And the same scatter charts but for landing pages.
